Riggs: We are learning about consonants and filling out our first page in our Riggs Notebooks. We are 80% or above on letter formations for a, c, d, f, g, o, s, qu, b, e, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, p, r, t, v, w and x (as of Thursday evening). Only 3 more! Please practice u, y and z extra over the weekend!
Saxon Math: For Saxon Math this week we are starting to learn about pairs. We talk about it by using our bodies and clothes (and Go Fish). When we wear gloves, socks and shoes it is called a pair but we never wear just one glove, one sock or one shoe. One pair means there are two. We are also learning how to subtract 2 and cutting squares in half.
Core Knowledge: This week and next we are learning about animals, their adaptations and their habitats. This week we drew turtles and acted like snakes: slithering on the floor and using our tongues to "taste" the air and made snakes or lizards out of construction paper (examples are hanging in the classroom from volunteers).
Consent: we are talking a lot about consent. Asking people to give them a hug or touch their hair and waiting for a yes or no before we respond. Asking a person if they can have a toy and waiting for a response before taking it. If the person you're asking says yes, then it's okay to hug them or to play with the toy. If the person you're asking says no then that's okay and we have to respect and listen to our friends.

- Friday, February 24th is a school field trip day. We have Critter Cabana, Zoo School and Reptile Man coming. Let me know if you want to come!

- Friday, April 21st Clackamas County Recycling Partnership is coming out to us to talk about how to help take care of the Earth. We are also taking a tour of the ReBuilding Center.
- Friday, May 19th field trip to Portland State Learning Gardens and 7 Dees.
