Happy Friday families! It is so nice to be surrounded by smiling little faces again. I thank all parents, children and especially chaperones for their flexibility in the cancellation of our field trip today.
Field Trip: Our field trip has been rescheduled for Wednesday at 11:45am. This is during our lunch and recess. We will be leaving school at 10:50 and getting to the theater at 11:30. We will be leaving the theater at 12:45 and be arriving back at school by 1:25. *Please send your child with a large lunch from home this day.* We will not have time to eat while in Portland so we are going to do a split lunch, eat half of lunch before we leave and eat the other half when we get back.
Chaperones: I will give my chaperones that got cancelled on for this field trip first priority. If you have time mid-day Wednesday and can share the time with us, I would love to have you. If you cannot I will open it up to the other parents. Please let me know by Sunday morning so I can offer the spots to others if needed.
This week we've covered ch, ng and ea. As a whole the class is improving like crazy. Do continue to have your child pay attention to the lines.
Math:
This week we've crammed in 4 lessons (in two days) and 2 math tests (in a day). Your children are troopers. We learned how to identify numbers on a hundred's chart, counted dimes and pennies, make a symmetrical painting and used black sharpies and scented markers to make symmetrical bugs.
Core Knowledge:
This week we've bought choice time with money (ex. if they wanted to put together a puzzle they had to make the change I asked for), played Break the Bank, played restaurant, rolled dice to color coins to see which would win, matched coins to the amount on a pig, and counted exact change (work in progress).
Dates to remember:
- Wednesday January 25th: Rescheduled Fly Guy Play. Bring a lunch from home!
- Monday January 30th, Wednesday February 1st and Thursday February 2nd are the days that Kindergarten is signed up for MAPS testing. The week before if you have access to a computer either via your personal one or one at the library feel free to explore how to navigate a mouse. Our lab computers are not touch screen :D. It was quite cute to see many try.

- Monday, February 20th is Presidents Day. There is no school.
- Friday, February 24th is a school field trip day. We have Critter Cabana, Zoo School and Reptile Man coming. Let me know if you want to come!
