Quick Weekend Update 2-18-16

Just the facts, ma'am:

MONDAY the 22nd:  We are going on a field trip to the Oregon Humane Society!  We will be gone during lunch time, so be sure to send your child with a home lunch.  Also important in this unpredictable weather:  a coat!  If you are chaperoning, please plan on heading out at 10:00 and being back by 2:00 at the latest.  You are welcome to come hang in the morning; I'll have some work lined up for you to do!

FRIDAY the 26th:  We have a Field Trip Friday, but we will be staying on campus for the day.  Students will be working in centers, working on a class book, and getting a visit from the Reptile Man.

Riggs:

We've been working on spelling words during our Riggs time, as well as continued study of phonograms.  Your child brings home a strip with words and phonograms highlighted on it.  These are words that were misspelled (either incorrect phonograms or incorrect markings).  In addition to adequate practice of any new phonograms, students are expected to practice highlighted phonograms and spelling words at LEAST three times each.  The strip goes in Left At Home, but the actual practice (Riggs homework) should be sure to go in Bring Right Back.

Core Knowledge:

We made delicious no-bake doggie treats to take to the humane society on Monday!  We learned about the special needs that pets have, and how humans who have pets have made a promise to take special care of them.  Your kindergartener brought home a collaged dog scene, and should be able to tell you about food, safety, health, and attention/love needs that pets count on their owners to meet.

Be sure to read your Falcon Flash, as that has all of the school-wide news!

Be sure to send in your contributions to the class auction basket (theme: Family Game Night)!

Be sure to help your kindergartener clean out their homework folders this weekend!
