Fort Vancouver Field Trip!

We didn't get rained on, and we saw and learned lots of new things!

If you wanted a job in the big house and a fancy seven course meal every day, you had to be able to read, write neatly, and do math.
The original fort burned down in the 1860s.
Our classes were complimented on their excellent behavior and curious questions, of course.
Students learned about many different jobs in the Counting House.

Inside the Big White House (it has stairs and it's painted white, so it must be impressive!).

The palisade didn't keep enemies out; it was to keep robbers out (so many beaver pelts!).

 Inside the Trading Post.
