Every second grader at least tried their maki with a good attitude, which is all I ask. Every child enjoyed the edamame (there's a new vegetable for your dinner tables!).
Thank you to the Hamersly-Piasky family for organizing the event, and to Mrs. Marks and Mrs. Maguire for coming and helping out!
Students should be able to tell you:
- Sushi actually means "vinegar rice."
- Sushi creation is an art, and eating it is an experience: one does not simply shove one's face full of food like we do with McDonald's burgers.
- Wasabi is molded into the shape of Mt. Fuji.
- Edamame are soybeans (like what is used to make TOFU!) and delicious!
The VISION of Cascade Heights: Cascade Heights fosters the development of the whole child through a rigorous, multisensory, experiential education. Young scholars gain cultural literacy and an appreciation of multiple perspectives through a cumulative, integrated, and objectives-based education. As a small community, we take pride in ourselves and our school, and provide a safe, positive space for young minds, bodies, and hearts to grow.
The MISSION of Cascade Heights Public Charter School is to inspire the social, emotional, academic, physical, personal, and ethical growth of children and partner with parents who share the same mission to prepare them to be members of a global society.
